BREC (Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre) has won the inaugural Western Australian Pinnacle for Presenter of the Year.
“This win for a venue is like a premiership for a sporting team,” said CircuitWest Executive Director, Ryan Taaffe.
“Such a win will open the eyes of many performance producers nationally and overseas to the quality of venues in Western Australia,” Taaffe said.”
“This win is likely to see more acts look to tour in the South West.”
The winner of the Pinnacle is voted for by industry peers based on providing excellence in all its forms and awarded by CircuitWest. CircuitWest represents venues, producers and artists Western Australia wide from Broome to Esperance to Kalgoorlie and everything in between including Perth venues.

BREC has been in operation since 1990 and stages a dizzying range and number of performances from large local productions, to musical theatre such as this year’s The Sapphires to film festivals, major music tours like the upcoming Lee Kernaghan and theatre like Bell Shakespeare.
The venue has been a major driver for inspiring the next generation of theatre makers delivering entertainment for students, talks with industry professionals and practical workshops under the direction of world class performers.
It also has a major role in arts education, community inclusion and supporting local artists in the South West.
“This is a significant win for WA performing arts as we work to been seen amongst Australia’s best and get mean more focus on the region,” Taaffe said.
“The people who live in the City of Bunbury and the rest of South West WA should be aware of the quality of the venue they have available to them.”
