CircuitWest Announces Nominees for Pinnacle Producer Awards

Today, CircuitWest announced the short list of nominees selected for the new Pinnacle performing arts awards for the Western Australian Producer of the Year.

The three nominees are:

  • Zap Circus – Western Australia’s only Internationally and Nationally award-winning Fire, SPFX and Circus Performance company.
  • Performing Lines WA – known for developing challenging and inspirational artists and works that shape Australian culture, society and performance practice
  • Barking Gecko Theatre – Western Australia’s locally cherished, nationally significant company that creates and tours world-class theatre for children and families.

According to CircuitWest Executive Director Ryan Taaffe, there were many nominees for the new WA specific performing arts industry gongs.

“With the criteria for the awards as ‘excellence’ in all its forms, we saw many industry peers nominate high quality major, small to medium and independent organisations.”

“It created a real challenge for the selection panel. I am delighted to see so many talented WA producers creating so much world class work.”

Nominations were based on anything nominators felt met the principal criteria of excellence be it through a tour they have taken, a partnership or a collaboration.

The presentation of the awards will be made at WA Showcase on 24 May at the Subiaco Arts Centre.
