WA’s BIGGEST ARTS AND CULTURE CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED FOR NOVEMBER 2020

Dates have been announced for WA Showcase, the state’s major arts event for learning and pitching for performing and visual arts.

The main event in arts in Western Australia will be at the Subiaco Arts Centre on 9-12 November 2020.

In the wake of the destruction in the seemingly endless path of COVID-19, CircuitWest plans to help industry leaders demonstrate arts’ role as the essential community hub, critical to health, well-being and COVID recovery.

“We’ll be providing real time stories of arts as it has saved lives and changed communities for so many including First Nations people, and risk groups such seniors, youth, those with mental health challenges, disabled customers and marginal cultural groups,” said Executive Director Ryan Taaffe.

“There has been so much commentary written about why arts is important to art lovers, and we agree with all of this. This event, however, will show that arts is actually essential to most of the community in real and tangible ways, and that the well-being of communities is lowered in the absence of arts.”

“There has been so much amazing work around WA on engaging art experiences to improve the lives of people far beyond the joy a production brings to audiences. We will be showcasing how arts has improved communities.”

The line-up for Showcase will show some of the finest case studies of arts impacts in WA and is likely to provide local and state government with far more evidence-based examples of the essential role of art.

“WA Showcase 2020 is about arts taking its role amongst other essential needs in COVID recovery contributing to improving lives and making communities.”

As always, the best producers in the state will pitch a huge range of high-quality work as we introduce new pitching styles and throw some interesting speed dating concepts to ensure producers meet presenters and great work ends up on great stages.

As with 2019, CircuitWest will partner with Art on the Move and GalleriesWest to ensure the conference is confluence of the most important contributors in both visual and performing arts.

WA knows art is indispensable and at the end of this WA Showcase, attendees will leave with more diverse ideas for lifting their communities post COVID and being better able to demonstrate that arts is imperative.

THE VENUE WILL BE SANITISED REGULARLY AND SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL APPLY
