Helen Hristofski


Helen has commissioned, produced, presented and toured over 20 new theatre works by leading Australian companies and artists over the years and has strong connections with national and international presenters. For the past 4 years Helen has been the CEO/Executive Producer at Barking Gecko Theatre Company, and is responsible for the articulation and implementation of the company’s strategic vision. The role requires oversight of all programming, producing, financial, marketing, investment partnerships, personnel and administrative management of Barking Gecko Theatre Company.

Prior to her current position Helen worked at Sydney Theatre Company from 2005 – 2013 (STC) producing productions and innovative creative learning programs, and was co-founder of the internationally celebrated School Drama program. Helen has also worked at Bell Shakespeare and Performing Lines in marketing and touring positions. Helen studied at Edith Cowan University – WAAPA, and has degrees in both Education and Arts Management, and was an Honorary Associate of the University of Sydney.

Helen was a board member for Young People and the Arts Australia for 6 years and one of three Australian Delegates to ASSITEJ in Adelaide (2008) and Copenhagen (2011). She was an international guest at New Visions/New Voices at The Kennedy Centre, Washington in 2010 and awarded The Shark Island Foundation Scholarship – Arts for her studies in a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact and the Australian School of Business, UNSW.
