Performing Lines WA has won the inaugural Western Australian Pinnacle award for Producer of the Year.
Western Australia is a state that looks to the future and thrives on original thinking and risk taking and producer Performing Lines WA is very much an organisation cut of the same cloth according to CircuitWest Executive Director Ryan Taaffe.
“Performing Lines WA are known for their transformative work and their commitment to challenging and inspiring work,” Taaffe said.
“Their work with the award-winning Sensorium Theatre in 2018 on the Oddysea show for children with disabilities set a high bar for the industry in terms of thinking outside the square.”
The winner of the Pinnacle is voted for by industry peers based on providing excellence in all its forms and awarded by CircuitWest. CircuitWest represents venues, artists, producers and stakeholders across the state from Broome to Esperance and everything in between.
Performing Lines also works to develop challenging and inspirational artists and work that shapes Australian culture, society and performance.
As one nominator said…
“From my perspective, the works they produce appear to be contemporary and relevant and I believe we are very fortunate to have such a skilful, innovative and motivated production company in Western Australia.”
“They make arts happen. Someone needs to join the dots between artists, audiences, presenters and supporters, and this is how Performing Lines get so much important work in front of diverse people,” according to Taaffe.
Performing Lines long term advocacy for independent artists has meant pushing many boundaries to find new paths to connect to presenters and audiences making Performing Lines WA essential across the industry.
“The industry knows Performing Lines have always been about big ideas and important conversations. We expect their programming will continue to champion diversity, risk and exploration,” Taaffe said.
