Solo Flight

Outdoor spectacle full of heart

Honest, raw and spectacular, aerial-dancer Dawn Pascoe shares her art and her heart. She performs a series of aerial acts which are intricately choreographed and describes personal moments in her life which have inspired her strength.

Part storytelling, part circus artistry, part comedy. Full connection.

Form and Style

Dawn talks directly to the audience using her larrikin sense of humour, warmth and honesty, while sharing stories about moments in her life that have inspired her strength, such as motherhood and figuring out who she is as a solo artist.

Between the stories, Dawn shares her art- with aerial acts on the silks and dance trapeze, which she has not only been specialising in for the past 17 years, but has pioneered a style of aerial dance which is unique, creative and raw.

Performed at sunset in iconic outdoor locations, this show is spectacular, heartwarming and focuses on connection with country and one another.

A lovely option is to have a local musician play sets before and after the performance, to add to the atmosphere, and can encourage picnics and socialising with the community.

Reviews

“Festival audiences were enthralled that the Dance Program included aerial dance performances by Natural Wings. Dawn’s aerial performances occurred suspended from the large boughs of the towering Fairbridge House tree. The trees are such a magical part of Fairbridge Village and the aerial presence gifted through Dawn’s solo work delivered a reprieve from ground-level viewing, and took the audience up into a new set of possibilities through the movement so capably performed by Dawn. The magic of watching audience members look up into the trees in a state of awe and marvel, as Dawn performed delicate and skilful choreography was beautiful. I look forward to including Dawn’s work again in future festivals.” – Paige Gordon, Curator & Producer, Dance Program, Fairbridge Festival
