Take a step back in time and immerse yourself in the bygone area of Trad-Jazz and prohibition cabaret.

Perth Cabaret Collective pays tribute to the music that speaks to your soul whilst making you want to get up and move your body! Performing music from 1920’s trad jazz swingers to the most beloved divas of all time, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Eartha Kitt and Liza Minelli, you are guaranteed to hear something that resonates from deep within. Featuring nine of Perth’s best Jazz musicians, the energy of the band is electric and uplifting with several of the performers nationally recognised for their musical prowess.

PCC has an extraordinary line-up of jazz singers featured throughout the show including impeccable Mark Turner, the powerhouse Mia Matthiessen and ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert Star’, Cougar Morrison. The show will also feature international burlesque sensation, Lucy Lovegun, and Miss Burlesque WA, Veruca Sour, both known for their theatrical and comedic acts.

This flamboyant cast will have you on your feet as their combined onstage talent verges on outrageous.

Form and Style

The band are seated in a semi-circle on stage and play through-out the entire show, directed by Musical Director, Jess Herbert from the baritone saxophone chair. There are 12-13 tunes in each set featuring vocal solos and duets, as well as dance and burlesque routines. The show moves quickly from act to act with vocalists interacting with the crowd in between tunes to tell a short story about the repertoire or something comical and off  the cuff. There are two options for the venues, a fast paced one hour show or the 2 hour rendition with an interval.

Community Engagement

Jazz/improvisation workshops in schools. All members of the PCC jazz band are music educators. Several of them are permanent teaching staff at both WAAPA and UWA. Ricki Malet (trumpet player) is a Musical Director at the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra. Our musicians can create specific workshops based around your schools’ needs. We offer a range of different workshops including big band, improvisation, composition and “A Journey Through Jazz” a fun and interactive workshop suitable for both primary and secondary students.

– Drag Queen Storytime. Come and listen to the likes of one of Perth’s most highly decorated drag queens, Cougar Morrison, bring your favourite children’s stories to life! These events promote inclusion and diversity and is intended as a creative literary experience for children and their parents, highlighting empathy and acceptance. Above all else it is fun, funny and fabulous!

– Charleston workshop. The Charleston is an upbeat and playful dance from the 1920s. Come and learn with two of the best Charleston dancers Perth has to offer, Miss Lucy Lovegun and Vercuca Sour! This one-hour workshop will guide you through the iconic moves from the era and teach you a fun routine. With great dance steps and music to match, you can develop your dance skills in a friendly and inclusive setting.
