About “The Priestess of Morphine” –

“Whether audiences are experienced connoisseurs, or opera newcomers, this show will stay with them far longer than its final bow.”

Bec Weldon, X-Press Mag – 8/10

About “Tea Break” –

“All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Tea enthusiasts and classical music lovers alike will adore this unusual Fringe offering. Musically, this show is complex and while being challenging, is a great example of the exciting things happening in classical music currently.”

“Tea Break is an amazing experience. A charming little break from the hustle and bustle of the outside world (where my tea drinking usually isn’t accompanied by a violin solo).”

Company Bio

Tenth Muse Initiative (TMI) is a grassroots arts organisation based in Boorloo. We are fuelled by a need to advocate for historically marginalised composers in art music and opera. Our mission is to challenge classical music norms, support emerging talents, and foster diverse experiences in the classical community. Founded to enhance gender diversity on concert stages, TMI aims to spotlight overlooked voices in classical music & opera through advocacy, innovation, and artistic transformation. In four years, we've achieved milestones like our award-winning Fringe Show, "Tea Break," which featured music by Australian composer, Christine Pan; we've commissioned new works by WA composers, and hosted diverse concerts showcasing Boorloo's emerging talent performing works by forgotten women composers. A recent highlight was the sold-out Australian premiere of "The Priestess of Morphine," an opera by non-binary artist Rosśa Crean and Aiden Feltkamp, held at The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights festival. "Priestess", led by a team of neurodivergent women and non-binary creatives, focused on creating a safe space for all involved, and was awarded the OperaBox Emerging Arts Leadership Award.
