Ausdance WA is the peak service body for promotion, participation, education and advocacy for dance in Western Australia. We are part of a national network with branches in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and Queensland. As part of a national network, Ausdance WA contributes to the national voice representing the dance sector.
Ausdance WA’s Regional Dance Program has been supporting contemporary dance making and touring in regional WA through a range of programs. Our program advocates for regional dance artists in a variety of ways, and is informed by a belief that there is vast creative capacity inside regional communities with local people skilled to tell their stories.
From 2010 till 2016 the Future Landings program commissioned three regional dance artists to devise and direct a full-length contemporary dance performance for, with and in their community. Since then, Ausdance WA has been the lead dance organisation in the Regional Arts Partnership Program, delivering a Contemporary Dance & Performance collaboration between three WA regions. Individually tailored programs have been devised by Mandurah Performing Arts Centre (Peel Region), Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council (Esperance Goldfields Region) and independent artists Annette Carmichael and Symantha Parr (Great Southern Region) to address the varied needs within their communities.
