CircuitWest Announces Ravensthorpe Wins Pinnacle Presenter Award

Today, Culture and the Arts Minister, the Hon David Templeman announced Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council has won the Pinnacle Performing Arts Awards for the Western Australian Presenter of the Year.

The Award celebrates the best in the live performance industry in Western Australia and recognises excellent work done in building creative,  inclusive, thriving communities.

Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council (RRAC), known also as Rave About Arts, is in a remote part of WA.  This group of mostly volunteers have programmed for 30 years across multiple venues in 3 towns delivering diverse performing arts without a purpose-built performing space.

RRAC programs for a wide variety of tastes which has meant everything from high engagement dance, to comedy, theatre, music, circus, and youth programming

The reasons for this nomination included innovativeness and commitment to the region, with an amazing and nuanced program that brings  different parts their community together to experience a range of arts.

According to CircuitWest Executive Director Ryan Taaffe, Ravensthorpe shows what performing arts is about in regional WA.

“The award is about excellence in all its forms and  Ravensthorpe have shown a commitment to diverse performing arts across challenging ever changing spaces  that would otherwise mean the region would miss out completely .”

“Nominations were very much the “just do it” attitude show by the team in Ravensthorpe and how they work to make so many types of arts a reality for their town.”

The presentation of the awards was made at WA Showcase on 11 November at the Subiaco Arts Centre.
