Community and Audience Engagement

a) Swing Story-Time: We can invite the local community to participate in a meet and greet style activity (prior to the show), inviting them to share their own personal jazz related stories or memories, which may then be incorporated into the performance. This could be ~1-hour activity done over a cuppa tea.

b) Swing dance workshops – schedule allowing, we can run workshops with individuals and/or dance groups in venue and in schools

c) Music master class – schedule allowing, we can run a 1-hour master class on improvisation & song writing for local musicians or schools.

d) Schedule allowing, we can perform our show in schools as part of their music history lesson and prior to the show, run a swing dance class to teach them about Swing dancing.

e) In the ‘second act’ of the show people are invited to dance with us on stage – both those who have participated in the workshops, and the general audience.

f) Post show Q&A: We can also incorporate an engaging question time at the end of our show.
