Applying to present or pitch
Home > WA Showcase > Pitching > Applying to present or pitch
There are four different presentation types you can apply for:
PROFILE
To give an update or overview for you or your company
A 5-minute presentation slot to provide a company update or an introduction to an artist, venue, or organisation. You may use slides with embedded images and video as part of your presentation. While you are welcome to speak about upcoming works or works that you have produced, you may not use this presentation to ‘pitch’ a production for touring.
If you want to discuss a PROFILE application, please email eo@circuitwest.com.au
PONDER
For sharing or discussing a new idea
This 20-minute presentation slot is designed to allow for a dialogue in a small group. It is a forum to support creative projects that require deeper discussion, explanation or understanding. For example, it may be devoted to sharing plans for creative development or aimed at gathering feedback about whether and how an idea could be taken further. The idea in question does not have to be one with a performance outcome – for example, it could involve a collaboration between the artist and a venue or a venue and a community.
If you want to discuss a PONDER application, please email atc@circuitwest.com.au
-
- A work that is tour ready cannot be the subject of a PONDER session.
- CircuitWest cannot provide production or technical support for a PONDER session, and cannot provide support for audio-visual presentations or PowerPoint slides. If you wish to bring anything with you to support your session, please let us know, but these conversations will typically take place in a small meeting area of the venue without a screen or TV.
PITCH
For pitching a production that is ready to tour
A 10-minute presentation slot to pitch a tour-ready production. The production must have had a professional or independently produced season before this year’s WA Showcase.
This type of pitch is a verbal presentation where you may share slides, videos and images with presenters. It is a terrific format and suited to the majority of producers.
CircuitWest strongly recommends the use of quality video to support your presentation.
If you want to discuss a PITCH application, please email touring@circuitwest.com.au
Pitch plus
A pitch but with a live excerpt onstage
A 10-minute presentation slot to pitch a tour-ready production. The production must have had a professional or independently produced season before this year’s WA Showcase.
As part of your pitch, you may present an excerpt from your production live onstage. You may also verbally present before and/or after the excerpt. You cannot share slides, videos or images as part of your verbal presentation before/after your excerpt.
It is up to you how you use your 10 minutes. For example, you could start with a 6-minute excerpt and finish with 4 minutes of verbal presentation – or the other way around.
If you strongly believe your pitch would benefit from performing an excerpt live on stage at WA Showcase, please apply for a PITCH PLUS. If you are unsure or have questions, we encourage you to email us at tourcoordinator@circuitwest.com.au
- WA Showcase is a conference, and there is limited technical and production support available for your excerpt. Pitch Pluses will generally be scheduled for quick set-up after a ‘break’. If your production does not present well in a ‘stripped back’ format, we recommend you DO NOT apply in this category. We also strongly suggest you consider the PITCH category instead if you have a good-quality video that will show your work in the best light.
